Afshan and has more than eight years of experience in PR, working with clients in healthcare, technology, biosciences, as well as the non-profit industry. In various roles, Afshan has developed and managed public relations strategies for local and regional organizations as well as global non-profits.
Afshan’s passion lies in helping clients develop strategic thought leadership programs highlighting their key differentiators to gain market share and visibility. From developing program-related PR plans, to writing blog post and generating content for executives, Afshan has expertise in ensuring critical client messages are consistently presented across all aspects of the PR program. Having managed national media campaigns in the past, Afshan is determined to build strong relationships with reporters to drive media relations. She has generated coverage in NPR, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, PBS, Houston Chronicle, Modern Healthcare and HealthLeaders, among others.
At LPP, Afshan has managed a number of clients that range in focus from clinical informatics, population health management, lab diagnostics services, medical devices , value-based care analytics and services, as well as voice recognition, data storage and high performance computing. Her clients have included: Philips Healthcare (patient care and monitoring services), DataDirect Networks (storage and high performance computing), Abbott Informatics (R&D labs and quality manufacturing), Allscripts (population health management and electronic medical records), Nuance (voice recognition and healthcare IT), PerfectServe (clinician communications), SynapDx (autism clinical trials) and Valence (value-based care consulting services).
Prior to joining LPP, Afshan managed the communications department of a non-profit organization based out of Washington, D.C., where she leveraged her strong national media experience to help raise the company’s visibility in mainstream press. Afshan has also worked in the public affairs department of an international university, and served as a strategic communications consultant for a global non-profit organization.
Afshan holds a B.S. in communications (journalism) from Boston University and a master of public administration from Cornell University.
