Melissa joined LPP in March 1998 and has more than 20 years of experience in medical device, health and consumer tech public relations and advertising. She currently serves as the lead of the agency’s Healthcare Practice and was appointed Managing Director in July 2016, when Lois Paul, the company’s founder, retired after 30 years of leading the business.
Melissa has extensive experience leading programs specifically designed for executive thought leadership, corporate messaging and repositioning, as well as patient recruitment, physician and consumer awareness. Her clients include Philips, Optum, Picis, AirStrip, Nuance Healthcare, Empi, Restore Medical, Enteromedics, Abiomed and Medidata Solutions.
She spearheaded Restore Medical’s national and regional launch of the first implantable device for treating sleep apnea, which resulted in more than 800 million impressions – with coverage in The Wall Street Journal, News Day, Reader’s Digest and Woman’s Day and on The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Discovery Health, CNN and more than 700 regional broadcast outlets in all 50 states.
Melissa has relationships with health and medical producers and editors at key media outlets including The Today Show, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, CNN, Reader’s Digest, Discovery Health and Reuters Health, among others.
Melissa is a recipient of the prestigious John D. Graham Award (2014 East Region), the Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America and Bell Ringer Awards from the Publicity Club of New England for her work launching the first outpatient, non-invasive alternative to hysterectomy for the treatment of menorhaggia for Gynecare, Inc., and for Restore Medical, Philips, AirStrip and SynapDx.
Prior to LPP, Melissa worked for Schwartz Communications where she was part of the healthcare team. Melissa holds a B.A. in fashion marketing from Simmons College in Boston.
