LPP awarded the Green Eagle of the ‘Rzeczpospolita’ daily as part of the Fight for Climate project

As part of the Fight for Climate project carried out by the editors of ‘Rzeczpospolita’, LPP was awarded the title of Green Eagle of ‘Rzeczpospolita’, ranking first in the Enterprise category. The jury appreciated the company for its achievements in the field of sustainable fashion activities.

For years, ‘Rzeczpospolita’ editors have been awarding companies operating in Poland for outstanding achievements in the field of economy. This year, for the first time, distinctions were also awarded for ecological achievements, in four categories: Enterprise, Ecological Organizations, Local Governments and Technologies. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of ‘Rzeczpospolita’ daily, it was also decided to award two special prizes: Titan of Ecology. LPP, the Gdańsk-based company, was among the winners of the Green Eagle title. The jury decided to rank it first in the Enterprise category for its consistent efforts to promote pro-environmental solutions implemented in the fashion market. LPP’s plans concerning sustainable development were appreciated, and above all the Eco Aware Production programme, which aims to develop and implement quality and ecological standards for reducing water and energy consumption in the process of fabric processing and clothing production by suppliers cooperating with the company. The jury also appreciated the company’s extensive efforts to reduce disposable plastic.

– The Green Eagle award for LPP shows that our sustainable actions are important for the market and above all noticeable. In recent years, we have been consistently taking more and more courageous steps, not only in an independent search for greener solutions, but also by raising awareness of our customers or long-term business partners of this aspect – says Przemysław Lutkiewicz, Vice-President of the Management Board, LPP.

The sustainable development of the Gdańsk-based company has been part of the company’s business strategy for years. Such an approach has contributed to the development of numerous good practices and, above all, measurable effects in the production of clothing bearing the Eco Aware green label. In 2019, all brands belonging to the Polish manufacturer introduced more sustainable collections. The company has been gradually increasing the share of clothing made of environmentally friendly materials and produced in a more sustainable process taking into account the rational use of water resources and energy. Last year, the Polish clothing manufacturer also joined the ZDHC, a global chemical safety initiative, and was the only Polish company to sign an international agreement for a circular economy in plastics management. Adopting a long-term perspective, LPP has made a commitment to completely eliminate disposable plastic by 2025, not only from packaging but also from price tags in the stores.

– A sense of responsibility for future generations raises the conviction that even in times of crisis, we cannot let go of long-term assumptions, and all the more so we must continue to work towards more environmentally friendly solutions. We believe that only the solidarity of many market players will bring us all closer to a better tomorrow, so much needed by our planet. We are pleased with the award and thank the jury for appreciating our efforts – adds Przemysław Lutkiewicz.
