What are the responsibilities of Shift Leaders?
When you think about working in a clothing store, the first thing that comes to mind is operating a cash register and assisting customers. Are these the main responsibilities of Shift Leaders at LPP stores?
If you are willing to join us, your responsibilities will include tasks that you have probably already learnt how to do. Your job will involve handling cash register operations, accounting for takings and serving customers, but these are not the only tasks that we wish to offer you.
As a Shift Leader, you will also make sure that the products in your store are displayed according to the brand standards and have the correct price tags.
You will monitor the goods delivery process, accepting and unloading products. We will also make you familiar with the process of making preparations for stocktaking to help you take part in it and work towards minimising the losses of our goods.
We expect more from Shift Leaders than we do from sales staff. This role involves analysing your store’s sales performance, drawing conclusions and taking appropriate measures to improve it. You can be sure to have a good deal of leeway and space to put your own ideas into practice.
Every day is different. I mean, it’s not about coming to work to hang out with clothes for the whole eight hours. I do one thing and then another, all in a moment – and depending on the need. This pace turns me on. I feel needed. I feel that something depends on me. Being a Shift Leader, I am often the one who needs to explain how to do things. I am in charge of delegating tasks and then making sure that everything works properly. In the store, my ideas come to life – I have the space to communicate them and put them into practice.
You will also face positive challenges in the managerial field. Working on your shift, you organise the work of the sales staff and support the stores manager in their daily tasks. You will be in charge of onboarding, becoming a mentor for newly recruited staff.
Your attention will be every day firmly focused on what is happening on the sales floor. When your supervisor is absent, you are the one to represent the store. You take turns with the manager to prepare the team’s monthly schedules. At times, you also provide assistance with tasks related to new staff recruitment.

The team size depends on things like the area of the store and the level of sales.
I see Sinsay as a diverse brand offering a wide range of products. This diversity extends to staff and customers. This job has taught me how to approach both customers looking for chic clothes and those who prefer sportswear. I seek to look at the store through the eyes of the shoppers, to understand their perspective. This helps me to ensure that, as a staff member, I have properly displayed each piece of clothing and that customers have a good view of it. What a new shift leader would learn from me is how to be open to other staff and customers, a skill that I find paramount in the job.

Each newly recruited person undergoes a proven onboarding process lasting several weeks. The process comprises online courses and hands-on learning with a mentor. In this way, you are introduced to each task and learn about our standards. You also gain access to LPP’s extensive e-learning database.
Your duties can vary a lot, from day to day – you need to be flexible, but you can learn everything in this job. I have always received ample support from my manager and my team and, when necessary, even from the manager of another stores, HR, the regional sales manager – whoever I encountered has been always willing to lend me a hand.
I feel appreciated by my manager. My ideas get taken on board, they are not ignored, I’m consulted. Communication between me and my manager, Alicia, is very good. We get on really well. I have learnt something from each of the managers that I have worked with.
