Over PLN 1 million from LPP and LPP Foundation to help Ukraine

Over PLN 1 million from LPP and LPP Foundation to help Ukraine

The Polish clothing company – LPP – is organising aid for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Apart from the support provided to employees and their relatives from the very first days of the conflict, LPP Foundation in cooperation with its social partners – the Gdańsk Foundation and the Polish Centre for International Aid – will donate PLN 1 million to provide for the most urgent needs of refugees who found shelter in the Tricity area and people staying in the war-stricken country. The company also supports the Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Red Cross by donating items of clothing of LPP brands.

In response to the needs of those affected by the armed conflict in Ukraine, which have been growing from day to day, LPP and the LPP Foundation have undertaken a number of initiatives aimed at supporting the company’s employees and their relatives, as well as activities carried out by social organizations in Poland and in the areas of the armed conflict. Aid worth over PLN 1 million will be provided, among others, to the Gdańsk Foundation, which organises aid to refugees as part of the #GdańskPomaga Ukrainie [#GdańskHelpsUkraine] campaign, and to the Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation, which operates directly in areas affected by military operations.

– From the first moments of the conflict in Ukraine, our priority has been the health and safety of our employees and their loved ones. However, it soon became apparent that there are more and more people waiting for support, and that the need to provide the most urgent necessities is growing by the hour. That is why we decided to support our partners by allocating PLN 1 million for their actions. Thanks to the cooperation with the organisations directly involved in helping refugees arriving in Tricity and people staying in the war zones, we are certain that our support will allow us to respond to real and rapidly changing needs – comments Patrycja Zbytniewska, President of the LPP Foundation.

The funds donated by the LPP Foundation will be used, among others, to help people arriving in the Tricity, to whom the Gdańsk Foundation provides support in kind, but also accommodation, psychological assistance, interpreter services, child care and coordinates all volunteer activities, including those offered by the residents.

– Within a dozen or so hours we managed to create a Gdańsk Helps Ukraine team which responds to the needs of those in need of help and those who volunteer to support Ukrainian women and men coming to Gdańsk. We are very grateful for all the help and thank the LPP Foundation for its prompt response. The funds will be earmarked for both emergency and systemic long-term assistance for migrants from Ukraine – says Dobrawa Morzyńska, Managing Director of the Gdańsk Foundation.

Another organisation supported by the LPP Foundation is the Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation which allocates the collected funds for maintaining and equipping humanitarian aid points, food, psychological and medical assistance. Thanks to conducted collections, foodstuffs, hygiene products and equipment necessary to organise kitchens, such as backup power supply units or gas cylinders, are also purchased.

– The huge support from companies will allow the Polish Centre for International Aid Foundation to provide humanitarian aid and secure the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian people, as well as to plan activities to secure the existence of people fleeing war and coming to Poland – says Michalina Chachuła from the Foundation.

Apart from the financial support, the LPP Foundation has also decided to donate clothes of brands owned by the Gdańsk-based company to the Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Red Cross. In addition, LPP has also been providing those in need with gift cards worth PLN 100 thousand to buy the most needed clothing.

– Every day, we are contacted by people and organisations looking for support for those who have often left their home country in a hurry, taking only their basic personal belongings with them. Now, that they are safe in our country and have their first, most urgent needs catered for, we can help them by also providing clothing that many of them did not have the opportunity to take with them. The needs are many, often spontaneously reported to us as part of individual initiatives by our employees who have also become involved in helping the war-affected Ukrainians. We have been responding to all of them on an ongoing basis and will support the people as long as necessary – adds Patrycja Zbytniewska.

Apart from activities undertaken in cooperation with social partners, since the first hours of the armed conflict in Ukraine LPP has been supporting its employees and their relatives, providing them with financial, medical and psychological aid, as well as basic necessities and clothing. With the support of LPP subsidiaries in Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Germany, transport and accommodation in EU countries is also organized for people who decided to leave Ukraine.
