Second edition of Responsible Fashion Awards is on

Responsible Fashion Awards is the first Polish competition dedicated to sustainable fashion. Its main objective is to promote responsible attitudes and values in the spirit of ethics and ecology in the clothing industry. The second edition of the competition has just started. All fashion enthusiasts can submit their works until 16 November 2020.

The Responsible Fashion Awards competition aims to select and promote the best projects submitted by artists from Poland and abroad. The task in the competition is to create drawings of the collection and to sew them, and then justify to the Jury the selected technology for the developed design.

The prizes

Responsible Fashion Awards are also great prizes for the winners. Two winners were selected in the last year’s edition: Marta Janikowska in the professional category and Wiktoria Frankowska in the enthusiast category. They received cash prizes and scholarships from the MSKPU, as well as fabrics from LPP for their grand finale projects. An additional prize was the opportunity to present the winning collections during the MSKPU 2020 Diploma Show.

This year, the best designer of the competition will receive a financial award of PLN 5000, an annual scholarship to study at the MSKPU, ecological fabrics from LPP for the realization of the author’s collection and participation in the MSKPU 2021 Diploma Show.

The jury

As last year, the RFA jury is made up of eminent figures from the worlds of fashion, education and show business from Poland and abroad, specialists in sustainable design education, journalists and experts in responsible fashion and eco-textile innovation. This year’s Jury is composed of:

• Magdalena Floryszczyk – fashion design lecturer at MSKPU, LABO brand
• Magdalena Płonka – director of MSKPU, CSR in fashion lecturer
• Martyna Kozłowska – coordinator of the Viva Foundation anti-fur campaign
• Michał Zaczyński – journalist, fashion critic, author of the michalzaczynski.com blog
• Ola Bąkowska – author of the olabakowska.com blog, project manager Circular Textiles in Circle Economy

The organisers

The organizers and substantive partners of the competition are MSKPU – the International School of Costume and Fashion Design in Warsaw and LPP.

MSKPU is the first school in Poland which has not only received the VOGUE TALENTS distinction twice, but is also the only one to teach CSR in fashion. Each year, the school graduates pride themselves on being educated in the spirit of empathy, ecology or innovative design in textile engineering.

– The Responsible Fashion Awards is a flagship project of the MSKPU and I am glad that we are preparing it again in collaboration with LPP. I have always wanted to create an event that will further promote ethical and ecological values in fashion. It is with pleasure that I participate in the second edition of RFA. RFA 2020 calendar of activities

• 16 October 2020 – start of the competition
• 16 November 2020 – final deadline for submitting works
• 23 November 2020 – announcement of ten semi-finalists
• 2 March – semi-finals in Warsaw and announcement of the winner
• 1 July 2021 – delivering the sewn models to the seat of MSKPU (the winner)
• July 2021 – The MSKPU diploma show.
