LPP CEO named among the fashion industry’s most influential figures by The Business of Fashion

Marek Piechocki, co-founder and CEO of LPP, has joined the prestigious BoF 500 Class of 2026, becoming only the fourth Pole in the history of the ranking to receive this distinction. His inclusion among the leading figures of the global fashion industry recognises more than 30 years of sustained work to build LPP into one of Europe’s largest fashion companies. More importantly, it is a clear sign that the business founded in Gdańsk has reached a scale that enables it to compete more confidently with global players.
Launched in 2013, the BoF 500 is one of the fashion industry’s best-known lists, recognising the people who are shaping the global fashion landscape. It features designers, executives from leading fashion companies and fashion houses, investors and visionaries who are influencing the industry’s future. New members are selected by The Business of Fashion’s editorial team, based on nominations and an extensive assessment of the global fashion industry.
This year, Marek Piechocki, co-founder and CEO of LPP, was included in the BoF 500, becoming only the fourth Pole ever to join this prestigious group, one that now includes more than 1,600 industry leaders from 65 countries. The recognition highlights his business acumen and willingness to make bold decisions – qualities that have helped turn a company founded in Gdańsk more than three decades ago into an international fashion business.
For LPP, the distinction coincides with another symbolic milestone: this year marks the 25th anniversary of the company’s debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Over that time, LPP has grown from a local retailer with a single brand and a small sales network into one of the largest fashion groups in this part of Europe.
– When we started out more than thirty years ago, I dreamed of building a Polish company that could hold its own on the global stage, with brands we could be genuinely proud of. Today, that dream has not only come true – the scale of our success has exceeded even my boldest expectations. It is the clearest proof that a truly global business can be built in Poland – says Marek Piechocki, CEO of LPP.
Today, Sinsay, Reserved, Cropp, House and Mohito together form an international business that reaches millions of customers across three continents – from London through Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans to Central Asia. The five brands are supported by a strong e-commerce channel and a network of more than 4,000 stores, making LPP the world’s third-largest fashion group in terms of the number of stores. The scale of this transformation is also evident in the company’s stock-market valuation: since its debut, LPP’s market capitalisation has grown to nearly PLN 40 billion.
But LPP’s expansion has been about much more than simply increasing the number of stores. As the business has grown, the company has developed a distinctive set of capabilities in Poland, spanning collection design, technology and data analytics, as well as logistics and the management of an international sales network – all of which are essential to running an operation on this scale.
It is in Poland that the collections for all five brands are conceived, key technology solutions are developed and strategic decisions about the Group’s future direction are made. At the same time, LPP continues to invest in state-of-the-art distribution centres, advanced warehouse automation and systems that support thousands of stores and e-commerce operations across 47 markets. As the business expands, so does the operational backbone needed to support the company’s continued international growth.
– I see this distinction as recognition of the thousands of people who have built LPP over the past three decades – from designers and developers to our store teams across dozens of markets. From the very beginning, we have believed that the greatest value is created in people’s minds. That is why our ideas, technologies and decision-making remain rooted in Poland. This is where we design our collections, pay our taxes and show that a brand built in Gdańsk can attract customers across Europe and beyond. We have never built LPP with just the next season in mind. We think about LPP in generational terms. That means taking responsibility for our employees, our partners and the place we come from, while recognising that the more we grow internationally, the more we are able to invest in Poland – adds Marek Piechocki.
For LPP, inclusion in The Business of Fashion’s BoF 500 is symbolic recognition of a company that has built a global presence and raised the profile of Polish business internationally, while remaining one of Poland’s largest taxpayers and a key pillar of the Polish economy. The story behind this success began in Gdańsk in the early 1990s, and since then LPP has grown into one of the largest fashion groups to emerge from Central and Eastern Europe.
